Who is the Design Manager at FrameTec

Under the general direction of the President of Plant Operations, The Design Manager is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and direction of FrameTec’s structural design and estimating team for our Camp Verde, AZ. Operations (FrameTec Alpha). The Design Manger will help procure, oversee, and direct a talented team of designers and estimators responsible for the complete design of structural framing components (wall panels and trusses), lumber and hardware estimates and turnkey framing bids. This individual will manage all aspects of the front-end design and quoting process for FrameTec Alpha, including estimating, pre-construction coordination, value engineering and quality control. This is a leadership position and requires both technical design and estimating experience as well as a track record of developing and managing high performing teams.

Core Responsibilities of the Design Manager at FrameTec

  • Oversees the day-to-day coordination and execution of structural roof and floor truss and wall panel design using Eagle Metal’s TrueBuild® software.
  • Coordinates between Purchasing, Plant Production, and Installed Framing departments to establish cost to ensure accurate turn-key bids.
  • Manages and qualifies RFQ’s from customers, tracks due dates and coordinates price updates as required by the customer.
  • Communicates directly with Purchasing Agents, Designers and Engineers.
  • Ensures the timely and complete delivery of production data to the Plant Operations Team for fabrication and order assembly.
  • Continuously evaluate workload and demand, assign design responsibilities and right-size design/estimating department resources.
  • Build relationships across FrameTec’s vertically integrated operation with a shared singular focus on providing our customers with the best, most reliable and cost-effective framing solution in the industry.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops talent and builds a reliable, high performing team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The FrameTec Design Manager Should Have the Following

  • Technical Expertise - A strong working knowledge of structural framing component design and fabrication.
  • Business Acumen – Knows how businesses work; knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting his/her business and organization.
  • Strategic Thinking – Helps develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; understands organizations strengths & weaknesses; adapts strategy to changing condition.
  • Execution – Ensures the effective execution of key processes that will drive profitability by aligning people, culture, and process. Analyze information, develop primary and secondary paths, commit to plans of action, and execute. Can be counted on to exceed goals, bring cutting edge solutions and foster the company culture. This position requires a self-starter who consistently pushes themselves and others for next level results.
  • Coaching and Leadership – Attracting, developing, and retaining talented individuals; creating an environment that ensures team members realize their highest potential, both personally and professionally. Miscellaneous Requirements to be the Design Manager at FrameTec

  • 15+ years of structural wood component design experience in high volume truss and panel manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams a plus.
  • Experience coordinating both quote and production order files.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • The ability to plan, project and prioritize in a complex and dynamic environment.

Who is the Structural Designer at FrameTec

Under the direction of the Design Manager, the Structural Designer at FrameTec is responsible for  creating structural designs and project estimating for Camp Verde, AZ Operations (FrameTec Alpha). You will be part of a team of Structural Designers responsible for the complete design of structural framing components (wall panels and trusses), lumber and hardware estimates and turnkey framing bids.   • Value engineer designs and suggest changes that may be needed to existing plans, ensuring FrameTec is producing the highest quality products.
  • Ensure smooth flow of work product between Purchasing, Plant Production, and Installed Framing departments.
  • Prepare designs and quotations for assigned projects and then ensure due dates are met.
  • Create price updates and quote updates as needed based on customer changes and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The FrameTec Structural Designer Should Have the Following

  • 5+ years of structural wood component design experience in high volume truss and panel manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience in structural design.
  • The ability to plan, project and prioritize in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Be highly motivated and be able to work both independently as well as be a collaborative team member.
